I consider myself as creole not only because I am black, and a French decent; but also because I am special and unique. I have an exclusive accent, and an exotic style. Even though I am black I prefer to describe myself as Creole. I was born and raise in the Island of Hispaniola which is divided into two parts: Santo Domingo in the east and Haiti on the west. Haiti is surrounded by mountains, and has a humid, hot, tropical climate. French and Creole are the official languages. Most of the population is black with a small minority of Mulattoes as a result of historical origin as slave holding agricultural colony of France.  Haiti has nice sandy beaches with beautiful. Haiti has a lot of attractions such as exotic mountains, interesting sight seing, distintive and colorful arts, handicrafts, castles, hotels and unique resorts. Haiti is the first black Republic who has their independence. Despite how the media has been portrayed the country, however Haiti is a beautiful island.  It was once called “La perle des Antille” meaning the pearl of the islands. The people are very friendly and hospitable. I believe we have the best cuisine, rice and beans is the common dish. Haitians are very proud people. They are hard workers. The majority of the older women are housewives who love to stay at home and take care of the children. The men are usually handy people
